Title: The Southern Africa Research and Innovation management Association (SARIMA) Annual Conference and Seminar on the Patent cooperation Treaty (PCT) as a Tool for Promoting Research and Development and Stimulating Technology Transfer
Description: We have received an invitation to attend the Annual Conference of The Southern Africa Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) to be held in Durban, South Africa from June 8 to 10, 2011. (See attached e-mail). The Conference will bring together 24 universities from South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. To date WIPO has organized outreach activities on the role of patents and The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), in research in developing countries in 20 of these Universities. Our participation would provide a good forum for feedback on the assistance given by WIPO to date as well as further promoting the use of the PCT. A presentation would be made by the WIPO speaker on the role of the international patent system and the PCT in promoting research and development and stimulating transfer of technology.
