In July 2016 Director General received an invitation to speak to the Annual Meeting of CIPLA. Director General responded positively to the invitation, but regrettably a mutually convenient date was never identified. It has been decided to delegate the engagement to a DDG. DDG Sandage will represent WIPO at the April 12, 2018 CIPLA meeting.
CIPLA is one of the principal NGOs focusing on IP in the central part of the Midwest region. In addition to the Cleveland area, participants will come from other parts of Ohio (where, for example, Procter and Gamble, the largest US user of the Hague System, is based), as well as neighboring Michigan, the seat of the US automobile industry.
Mr. Bombelles has been liaising with CIPLA to confirm WIPO’s participation, and outreach to professional IP NGOs is a major part of the NGO and Industry Relations Section work plan, the request to accompany DDG Sandage on this Mission has been granted by the Director General. |
