WIPO Photography Prize for Indigenous Peoples and Local Community Youth

Young photographers from Brazil, the Philippines and Kenya were selected as winners among 30 artists whose work was shortlisted in the WIPO Photography Prize for Indigenous Peoples and Local Community Youth 2021-2022. The prize encourages Indigenous and local community youth to express themselves on climate change and climate action – while raising their awareness on how copyright can be used to protect their creativity expressed in the photographs.

WIPO has launched a new global awards program to recognize exceptional enterprises and individuals using intellectual property to make a positive impact both at home and beyond their own borders. The first WIPO Global Awards will be granted in July 2022 to five small and medium-sized enterprises, which are the largest business sector in many countries and are critical to future economic growth.

WIPO for Creators Welcomes First Member State and Corporate Sponsors

WIPO for Creators has welcomed its first Member State and corporate sponsors, with the Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom (UKIPO) and Universal Music Group joining the partnership that aims to increase knowledge of creators’ rights and related management practices to ensure recognition and fair reward for all creators.

WIPO Launches “Young Experts Program”

WIPO’s new “Young Experts Program” (YEP) initiative is aimed at forging the next generation of intellectual property leaders. Successful applicants will join a two-year program hosted at WIPO designed to expose young people with high potential, particularly from developing and least developed countries as well as countries in transition, to the technical and policy aspects of IP.
