Year: 2006

Details

Subject/Type: Piracy
Focus: Software
Country/Territory: Türkiye
Objective: To investigate the impact of demographic factors on software piracy among IT professionals in Turkey.
Sample: 162 IT professionals from government and private sector organisations
Methodology: Turkish questionnaire distributed to attendees of a one-day meeting of the Turkish Informatics Association

Main Findings

The study did not find gender to have a statistically significant impact on the use of pirated software by IT professionals. However, gender did impact on the reasons for using pirated software and on the type of pirated software used. Younger IT professionals were more likely than older IT professionals to use pirated software.
