Commenting Process (April 2006 to November 2006)
The draft Provisions on the Protection of TCE/EoF and the draft Provisions on the Protection of TK, which have been developed by the Intergovernmental Committee, have been the subject of extensive public consultations with all concerned stakeholders, including especially indigenous and local communities. In addition to ongoing public consultations, a written procedure for comments by Committee participants was adopted. At its ninth session in April 2006, the Committee decided as follows:
'On the basis of the indications of delegations that they would be submitting written comments on the contents of documents WIPO/GRTKF/IC/9/4 and WIPO/GRTKF/IC/9/5, the Chair proposed, and the Committee agreed, that Committee participants be invited to submit such written comments to the Secretariat before July 31, 2006, so that the comments could be circulated prior to the tenth session of the Committee.'
In accordance with this decision, all Committee participants were invited to comment and all comments received are posted below in the order and form received. The comments are also circulated as information documents for the Committee.
