Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean - Promotion of Innovation and Use of IP
Innovation and inventiveness are key components in fully utilizing and harnessing the benefits of IP as a tool for economic benefit. Without innovators, those individuals with a vision to see the potential in a product, process or idea, little in a society changes. As indicated under the policy section, governments must ensure that the proper environment is in place to encourage and sustain innovation and all it encompasses. The Bureau is able to assist governments, inventors, innovators, etc. by providing expert advice on how to evaluate and take products, process, etc. from the conceptual idea to a potentially marketable item. Additionally, the Bureau is provides information and training in using available resources, such as patent information, that could aid the innovator is getting his/her innovation to be a commercially viable product.
