Organizational unit: Information Security Section Principal duties Under the supervision of the Head, Information Security Section, the incumbent has the following duties: (a) implement appropriate procedural and technical access control mechanisms, in compliance with the WIPO Information Security Policy and standards; (b) perform security assessments and vulnerability testing and make recommendations for corrective actions; (c) draft security specifications for specific platforms and applications; (d) perform architectures and applications reviews; (e) ensure security monitoring and logical access control; (f) participate in responses to information security incident response and investigation; (g) provide information security technical expertise to IT and the other business sectors; (h) assist the Head of the Information Security Section and perform other tasks as required. |
This vacancy is open to applicants of either sex. Applications from qualified women candidates are encouraged. They follow generally those of the United Nations common system, and include tax-free salary and allowances, five-day week, annual leave of 30 working days, participation in pension scheme and medical benefit scheme. Qualifications required (a) University degree in mathematics, engineering, or related discipline. (b) At least six years of professional experience, with practical experience in information security or related field, including TCP/IP network services, network security architecture, users and services administration, Internet services, Unix, Microsoft and Novell system administration, firewall and VPN technologies. (c) Experience in vulnerability testing and security assessments. (d) Expert knowledge of industry standards and technologies (authentication, encryption, tunneling, messaging, web services, etc.). (e) Previous experience as a developer (e.g. C, C++, Java, Perl, PHP, shell scripting, etc.) is essential. (f) Experience in security incident handling and investigation. Good knowledge of computer forensic techniques is an asset. (g) Good technical documentation writing skills would be an advantage. (h) Security certifications such as CISSP, Check Point CCSA and CCSE, IBM CSA, HP CSA would be an asset. (i) Excellent knowledge of English is mandatory; good knowledge of French is an asset. Nationality: other qualifications being equal, preference is given to candidates who are nationals of one of the Member States of WIPO and the candidates from regions of the world from which the number of WIPO staff is insufficient. Age limit: less than age 55 at the date on which the appointment takes effect. Medical examination: initial appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical examination. | ||||
The position is graded at level P.3 and carries at that level net base salary per annum from US$ 56,145 to US$ 75,234 (with dependants) or from US$ 52,408 to US$ 69,943 (without dependants). Appointments from outside the United Nations common system are normally at step 1 of the grade. Salary increments are subject to satisfactory service. Post adjustment, which is subject to change without notice, on initial salary step is, per annum: US$ 53,682 (with dependants) or US$ 50,108 (without dependants). Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations. The Organization reserves the right to make an appointment at a grade lower than that advertised.
